Fireworks

- It is an offence to sell fireworks to anyone under the age of 18
- If you are not sure that the customer is aged 18 or over, ask for proof of age (challenge 21)
- If you are still not sure, refuse the sale and record it in the refusals book
- It is an offence to sell caps, party poppers, throwdowns, novelty matches, serpents or cracker snaps to anyone under the age of 16
- You must be registered / licensed with Trading Standards / Fire Service to keep fireworks in your shop
- Make sure the A3 size warning notice 'IT IS ILLEGAL TO SELL FIREWORKS TO ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 AND IT IS ILLEGAL FOR ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 TO POSSESS FIREWORKS IN A PUBLIC PLACE' is clearly displayed when selling fireworks
- All fireworks must be stored and displayed for sale in a safe and secure manner
An offence is committed
- If you sell fireworks to someone under the age of 18
- If you sell caps, party poppers, throwdowns, novelty matches etc. to someone under the age of 16
